Introducing Pay By Weight

Further to Minister Coveney’s announcement, the introduction of the Pay By Weight service has been deferred until the 1st July 2017. It will see all householders charged on a Pay By Weight basis for their waste collection service. The aim of the new regulation is to create a level playing field, and to encourage positive environmental behaviour.

The introduction of Pay By Weight means that households will now pay a service charge, and will also pay for every kilo of waste collected in their general waste and organic waste bins – with no weight charge for recycling. Waste collection companies will no longer be allowed to offer a flat fee service i.e. a standard monthly fee.

We offer a choice of Pay By Weight price plans to our customers. Each plan is designed to specifically meet your waste needs. To view our Pay By Weight Price Plan for your area, click here.

Some Other Top Tips to Save You Money

We would like to help you make the transition to Pay By Weight as easy as possible. Here is how you can find out more:

  • Buy products with less packaging – look for loose fruit and vegetables, or items that have the least amount of packaging. If you don’t buy it, you don’t have to bin it.

  • Organic Waste for your brown bin* – if it once grew, it can go in the brown bin. Paper was once a growing tree, making all pizza boxes, paper food wrapping and wine corks organic waste too.

  • Think outside the kitchen – pop a small bin in your bathroom for recyclables such as shampoo bottles and lotions.

  • Avoid single use items i.e. razors, wipes. Invest in a refillable water bottle, coffee cup & lunch box to reduce waste when you are on the move.

  • Don’t forget to use your glass bin* for all your glass sauce jars, jam jars and glass bottles.
