AES Bord na Móna Changes Tyre Collection and Recycling Landscape
23/10/2017

AES now operate a unique standalone tyre recycling facility comprising of a 13-acre site, offering 70,000 square foot of production space in Donore Industrial Estate, Drogheda, Co. Louth.

The site features a state of the art recycling and remanufacturing facility covering all aspects of the rubber tyre recycling process – from shredding, granulation and milling, to the production of saleable recycled products.

The facility is the only one of its kind in the country, providing a specialised and compliant tyre recycling service to the tyre trade across the island of Ireland. It is ideally located for expansion and further development as may be required in years to come.

Speaking on the project, head of AES Ciaran Brady said: ”One of the key elements of our business model is to provide a total solution, carried out in a compliant manner for ELT generated material, while being innovative in repurposing through the production of new remanufactured products for a rapidly increasing client base”.

Tyres are 100 percent recyclable – processed into rubber granulate and powders or processed separately as metals and textiles. Tyre recycling transforms a priority waste stream into valuable resources by processing them into a broad range of cost-effective materials. It saves thousands of barrels of petroleum per year – reducing dependence on natural resources for materials.

The state of the art facility can handle more than 30,000 tonnes of tyres every year and every one of those tyres will be recycled.

The AES sponsored family day returned for a seventh successive year with 34,370 race-goers attending the event.

The event was a huge success with a huge range of exciting activities, both on and off the racecourse, to keep attendees of all ages entertained throughout the day!

The free of charge AES Fun Zone featured interactive games, and arts and crafts where the kids built their own kites and ‘odd sock owls’. A Junior Jockey Fun Club and a fun fair were just a couple of highlights for the younger attendees from the day while the adults enjoyed a shopping village live music as well as the action packed racing!

Take a look at some photos from the day below.

AES raises €78,000 for Irish Children’s Charities
07/12/2016

We’d like to thank our customers for helping us raise €78,000 this year, which will be split equally between Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin and Temple Street Children’s University Hospital.

This money will help fund the following:

  • Urodynamics testing room for Temple Street Children’s University Hospital. This is a vital room within the Renal Outpatients Unit used by thousands of patients with kidney problems. This room will include a specialised bath and en-suite facilities.
  • Upgrade of the Outpatients Department for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. Over 80,000 children visit the Outpatients Department each year and the facilities were not designed to sustain the kind of traffic that it now has to deal with on a daily basis.

Thank you for making this possible and making a difference for the kids who need it most.

AES donates €78,000 to irish charities Temple Street Children’s University Hospital and Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.

We will continue making donations to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin and Temple Street Children’s University Hospital in 2017. You can continue to help us raise more money for these wonderful charities by paying online, as 1% of all online payments over €20 is donated.

This is a wonderful opportunity to continue helping two great causes. We hope you can keep supporting our donation by paying your AES bill on My Account Online.

Trick or Treat for Temple Street Party
08/11/2016

As a charity partner to Temple Street Children’s Hospital, AES had a frightfully good time hosting a Trick or Treat for Temple Street fundraiser in our Newbridge office.

We raised €565 at the Trick or Treat event, and we have decided to match this number, bringing our total donation to €1,130.

There were so many creative and spooky costumes on the day, with prizes given out for the Best Individual Costume and Best Group Costume.

We had a terror-ific bake sale to go along with all of the dress up fun. Many thanks to all of the staff for baking, donating, and dressing up for the day.

All proceeds are going directly to Temple Street, giving some extra help in the continuation of their world class care for Ireland’s little patients.

AES donates to Our Lady’s Children Hospital, Crumlin

Thank you for making a difference

In 2014 AES Bord na Móna set out to reach a donation target of €50,000 for St. John’s Oncology Ward in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin by giving 1% of every online bill payment received of €20 or more to this ward.
We are absolutely delighted to announce this sizeable target was met, and this amazing achievement was made possible thanks to the help of our customers.
The donation has aided in upgrading St. John’s Ward, and its state-of-the-art bone marrow transplant unit. The upgrading in facilities has greatly improved the quality of conditions for sick children and their families during incredibly stressful times.
