What is Pay By Weight?

New Pay By Weight legislation is coming into force on July 1st 2017. It will see all householders charged on a Pay By Weight basis for their waste collection service. Each household will now pay a service charge, and also for every kilo of waste collected from their bins – general waste, recycling and organic waste*.

How does Pay By Weight Work?

Our Pay By Weight service options allows you to remain in control of your costs – offering a 6 month service charge and a charge per kilo of weight collected in each of your bins. Reduce the amount of waste going into the general waste bin by using your recycling and organic bins to their full potential, and you can save on your bill. This is a prepaid service so your account must be kept in credit for your bins to be collected.

How can I view the weights of my bins?

Your bin weights are available to view in the Bin Collection History section in My Account Online. Login to your account here.

How do I know how much I’m being charged?

Your latest bill will provide details of your 6 monthly service charge, and a full breakdown of your weight charges can be viewed in My Account Online.

What are the per kilo prices for each waste type?

You can view the prices for each waste type on My Account Online.

Standard

Our Standard Pay By Weight price plan is designed for larger households, such as families or houses with 4 or more people, as it has lower per kilo prices for those producing more kilos of waste. You pay a 6 month service charge, and also pay for every kilo of waste collected in each of your bins – general waste and organic waste. Your recycling collections are free.

Basic

Our Basic Pay By Weight price plan is designed for smaller households, such as individuals, couples, or 2 or fewer people, as it has a lower service charge with higher per kilo prices for those producing less kilos of waste. You pay a 6 month service charge, and also pay for every kilo of waste collected in each of your bins – general waste and organic waste. Your recycling collections are free.

How can I reduce my current bill?

There are a few easy ways that can help you reduce your current bill:

Manage your costs by managing your waste. AES collect organic bins* at a cheaper rate, and your recycling and glass bins* for free – so the more you recycle the more you can save. Learn more about What Goes in My Bin to make the most out of these bins.

AES offer a special discount of €3 for signing up to Direct Debit. To sign up please fill in the Direct Debit Mandate and post it to:

How do I know my weights are correct?

All waste weighing systems used for the collection of waste under the new legislation must comply with the requirements of the Meterology Act, 1996.

In addition, our teams carry out daily checks to ensure that each truck is fully operational. All trucks are also inspected and requalified annually by a certified NSAI verifier.

What if I am concerned about how much my bins weigh?

We are happy to discuss any concerns you have regarding your bin weights. Please contact us here and a member of our customer care team will be in touch with you.

Can I change my price plan?

Yes – changing your price plan is easy. Please fill out the following form and a member of our help centre team will be in touch with you to discuss changing your price plan within 1-2 working days.







Flat Rate

How does Flat Rate work?

With the Flat Rate plan, you will know exactly how much your waste charge will be each month. You may leave your bins out on as many relevant collection days as you wish without any extra charge. This includes your general waste, recycling, organic* and glass* bin.

*Please note that organic bins and glass bins are not available in all areas. By requesting a quote, you can find out what bins are available to you.

Where can I find out how much I’m being charged?

Your latest bill will give a full breakdown of how much you are being charged. The easiest way for you to view your bill is on My Account Online.

Am I on the correct price plan for my waste needs?

Each price plan is designed to suit customers’ specific waste requirements.

Our Flat Rate service is ideal for households that fill their bins on a weekly basis. Flat Rate is a valuable option for those that require their bins to be emptied regularly and like to know they are paying a fixed price each month.

Our Pay by Weight service is ideal for households that only fill their bin less frequently or seasonally. This service allows you to remain in control of your costs by offering a reduced service charge and only paying a per kilo charge when your bins are collected.  By reducing the amount of waste going into the general waste bin customers can also save on their bill as organic bins have a lower per kilo charge than the general waste bin and the recycling bin does not have a per kilo charge.

How do I get the balance on my account?

You can view your balance by logging onto My Account Online or call 0818 650655 and follow the prompts for your account balance.

How do I get a statement of account?

You can view and print your latest billing statement and any fees outstanding from My Account Online.
