Recyclables

photo of carboard sorted for recyclingThe volume of waste produced determines whether it is economically viable to separate it for the DMR (dry mixed recyclables) route. DMR (dry mixed recycables) waste such as waste office paper, newspapers & magazines, cardboard, plastic bottles, drinks cans, tetra pak/juice cartons etc are collected and stored either in bulk in a compactor unit or in 1100l wheelie carts. Internal containers can be provided to make it easier to capture a larger portion of this waste stream. This waste stream is then collected on an agreed schedule. All DMR waste is transferred to our AES Tullamore transfer station where it is processed and segregated and sold on to the commodity markets.

Paper

Waste paper can be collected as a mixed recyclable waste stream or as a separate waste stream, depending on the volume of paper.

Confidential shredding

AES utilise a partner, Shred-it, for the collection and disposal of confidential shredding.

Cardboard

Waste cardboard can be stored on the individual site utilising compactor unit or balers. Fewer volumes are collected as DMR waste in 1100l wheeled carts. On an agreed schedule, AES will collect this waste stream and transfer it to an EPA licensed facility. This waste stream is then processed and sold on to the commodity markets.

Newsprint

Waste newsprint should be disposed of through the DMR route.

Green waste

Green waste can be stored in open skip or roll-on containers and collected for recycling as required.

Metal

Waste metal can be collected and transferred for recycling as required. Open chain lift or roll-on containers can be utilised for the collection of this waste stream. AES transfers all waste metal material to an authorised metal recycling contractor.

Plastic

Waste plastic can be stored on the individual site utilising a compactor unit or baler. On an agreed schedule, AES will collect this waste stream and transfer it to an EPA licensed facility. This waste stream is then processed and sold on to the commodity markets. Where there is less volume, plastic is collected as DMR waste in 1100lt wheeled carts.

Aluminium and tin cans

Waste aluminium and tin cans should be disposed of through the DMR route.

Glass

AES can provide a routine collection of glass waste. This waste can be stored in a wheeled cart and collected for recycling as required. AES can collect either mixed or segregated waste glass. AES sends all glass waste to Glassdon Recycling for recycling.

Timber

Waste timber such as pallets and wooden packaging, as well as construction timber, can be collected and transferred for recycling as required. Open chain lift, roll-on containers or a 40-foot trailer can be utilised for the collection of this waste stream. Timber waste is transferred to AES Portlaoise for shredding. Shredded timber is used either as a bulking agent in bio-waste composting processes or as an odour suppressant at licensed landfills.

Construction and demolition waste

Construction and demolition waste such as cement, stone and soil can be stored in open skip or roll-on containers and collected for recycling as required. This waste stream is transported to our AES transfer station where it will be processed and transferred as possible landfill cover.
