Food and organic waste

The Waste Food Regulations require that food from canteens and restaurants be separated on site and away from the general/landfill waste disposal containers. 240lt wheeled carts are utilised on site for compostable material. These containers are serviced on an agreed weekly schedule. Food and organic wastes are composted at either our Kilberry composting facility where compost output is used as a peat substitution material in retail composts, or at our In-Vessel composting unit at Navan Transfer Centre.
